Why did you pick this picture?
I picked this one because I think it’s quite a fun drawing. I think he looks like a pug with attitude! I really enjoyed working on it.
Where did the idea for this art come from?
I had been drawing a lot of portraits and wanted to do something different. I love dogs and wanted to try a pet portrait. A lot of the inspiration I get is from Instagram etc, there are so many great artists on there who just made me want to start drawing again.
What does this art mean to you?
I work from photographs but this was the first time I felt confident enough to change the picture around a little by adding the red scarf. I was happy with how it turned out and think it gave the picture a little character.
What can you tell us about yourself?
I’m 29 years old and I live in Scotland. Growing up I always loved to draw but I stopped in my teens and didn’t start again until a couple of years ago. I am self taught and always trying to learn new techniques and styles.
What more can you tell us about your art?
My drawings are very detailed and I spend a lot of time working on them. I love it though as the time goes so fast when I’m drawing, it’s therapeutic! I like to draw or paint anything that catches my eye really so my drawings tend to be a mix of different things. I have always stuck to coloured pencil drawings but recently I have been trying to paint with acrylics
