To live – lobo

Why did you pick this picture?

I chose this work because I think it sums up the great part of my work until now: this is one of the first time I expressed the simplicity of my illustrations using only black ink on paper; also I think this work expresses the themes I like the most, like architectural suggestions and the relationship between man and space.

Where did the idea come from?

The idea of this picture came from the concept of the human body as a complex machine; I’ve interpreted this associating the organism to a factory, in wich every instrument ironically simulate a living function.

What does this picture mean to you?

This particular illustration is the one I consider as turning point of my life: this is one of the first drawing I did thinking about myself as an illustrator, and as a boy who just likes to draw.

What can you tell us about yourself?

I’ve always liked to express my ideas drawing them, but I’ve never studied art in my life. Actually i’m studying to become an architect, and I think this strongly influenced me and my work in the spatial conception of the paper.

What more can you tell us about your art?

The thing that I’ve always tried to do is to simply rapresent my toughts, trying to make them understandable to other people and possibly to share my toughts with them. The easy understanding of my illustration is one of the theme to wich I am most fond of: that’s why I like to use well shaped lines and few colors, because the most important thing of my illustration is not the aspect, but the concept they rapresent.
