Quartered Matt Murdock – the_predatali_art’

Why did you pick this picture?

I picked this picture due to the fact there seems to be a melancholy atmosphere, with the lack of eyes – due to the tinted glasses – creating an emotional distance between the viewer and the character. That being said, the glimpse of the furrowed brow implicates a real anger behind the character through the image.

Where did the idea come from?

The idea for this style of art, where the four separate mediums display four separate emotive tones, conveys a nuanced, complex emotions that the character feels, the lack of oneness of emotions being exaggerated with the cleat differentiation. Moreover, it juxtaposes realistic shading, such as the markers, charcoal pencils and POLYCHROMOS, with the more surreal cross hatching.

What can you tell us about yourself?

Art, to me, is a hobby yet also a relaxing insight into how life and emotion can be imitated. There is something special about starting with nothing but a blank page and creating something that mimics reality and conveys something complex!

What more can you tell us about your art?

I draw when I can, though that is hard as I am a student therefore balancing work and relaxation – which consists of art – is stressful. That being said, art is a way out of stress for myself. I live in England and am still in the system if education and I have a passion for movies and television; I consider myself that of a geek. Art reflects this passion as I live to draw pop culture icons!
