Why did you pick this picture?
These are some of my recent wearable art pieces. Most notably, I have created dresses for Rachel Goswell of the legendary shoegaze band, Slowdive. I created the gold dress (made from recycled pieces & paper) for Rachel to wear for their memorable set at the Pitchfork festival in Chicago, 2014. (Photo by Getty images)
Where did the idea for this art come from?
Most of my ideas come from dreams and visions.
What does this art mean to you?
I have been painting & drawing my whole life, so my wearable art creations feel like a 3d version of my paintings. When I see them on a model or performer, it’s like seeing my paintings come to life.
What can you tell us about yourself?
I am a mostly self taught lifelong artist from Niagara Falls, NY. I love to travel and am very inspired by exploring new places. Music and art are one and the same to me.
What more can you tell us about your art?
I used to head right for the painting aisles while shopping for art supplies, but since expanding into the world of 3 dimensional art with my wearable art pieces I’ve started to search everywhere for materials. By realizing creative expression is not limited to one specific type of art, I have expanded the possibilities of what I can create! I am currently working on a body of work that will integrate my paintings and dresses into one show.
