Why did you pick this picture?
I chose this artwork because it is one of the few in my series that has more of an organic shape than the others. It looks more natural and alive to me compared to most of the other ones that are more angular shaped. It was also created almost midyear and represents a time when everything in my life became more balanced.
Where did the idea for this art come from?
I created this artwork after spending an evening with my brother playing the video game ‘Journey’. This game experience had so much influence on me that i wanted to give something back in the form of an analogue expression, which was the main character of the game.
What does this art mean to you?
This artwork is a mirror of my soul as well as my journey through life where i learn everyday that there is night and day, shadow and light inside of me and it is my responsibility to keep it all in balance.
What can you tell us about yourself?
I am very sensitive, i have a wide open heart and i love to observe the world around me all the time. I am addicted to reading and i find rest when i walk barefoot in nature. Yoga and swimming also calm my mind that is sometimes restless.
What more can you tell us about your art?
On the first of January 2016 i decided to start a series of 366 days of drawing which became my daily meditation. It makes it even more special to me because i was never drawing much before in my life and basically wanted to venture into something where i had almost no experiences.
Every day i wanted to challenge myself even more and over time i found many ways to create myself which means much freedom and only a few rules for every drawing: Do one a day, no plan, all free hand so no use of rulers, follow my intuition.
I find most inspiration in nature, music and its frozen form – architecture. Other things that inspire me are experiences with people i meet and live with. Pretty much everything around me inspires me. I love to experiment with form and colours as well as the perfection of symmetrical drawing. Drawing every day is a way of meditation as the things from the past day come up, go through my mind and find themselves inked on paper.
