Mouton the Tiny Clay Elephant – hallie_etsy

Why did you pick this picture?

This is a recent piece I made for my collab group on Instagram. It’s currently one of my favorite pieces. I love elephants and I love the colors.

Where did the idea for this art come from?

Some of the first pieces I made were elephants. I think with time and experience I feel my art has gotten better over time. Plus I love the Sentimental Circus!

What does this art mean to you?

Polymer clay became a stress reliever. I started out doing it just for fun which it still is! I love everything about polymer clay. It makes me feel good about what I can accomplish with it.

What can you tell us about yourself?

My name is Jillian and I’m 36 years old. I live in Colorado. I have a 3 year old daughter, a 7 year old stepson and an 11 year old stepdaughter. I’m a stay at him mom. I grew up with artistic parents and always wanted to be like them. Almost 2 years ago I discovered polymer clay and I was horrible. I stayed with it watching many YouTube videos and practiced for hours. I finally feel confident in calling myself a Polymer Clay artist.

What more can you tell us about your art?

Polymer clay can be baked in your oven. I use Sculpey III, Premo and Fimo. Sculpey is the softest of the three. Premo is a bit tougher and Fimo is the hardest. They come is a range of beautiful colors. I also hand paint some of the details on my pieces like the one pictured.
