Why did you pick this picture?
Buddha has the serenity and the feeling of being Zen. Don’t you think?
Where did the idea for this art come from?
Buddha stands for “one who is awake” and he is also known as “the enlightened teacher”. Since this was a gift to my mother, I couldn’t have described her in a better way than a sketch of Buddha.
What does this art mean to you?
This was one of my first few sketches that I had done. I wanted to make something special and surprise my mother on her birthday and this was it!
This piece is really close to my heart! So are all others but this holds a special place for obvious reasons 🙂
What can you tell us about yourself?
I am an actor by profession, a licensed commercial pilot (though I don’t fly now), I have an engineering degree and amongst all of this I started sketching about ten years ago. My mom is an amazing artist and I guess I inherited her genes. I don’t have any formal training but just tried go on and to keep on improving my self with one sketch at a time.
What more can you tell us about your art?
I use markers and paper for my sketches. They are various types ranging from portraits to film posters to sceneries and so on and henceforth. I play with the negative space and it’s quite an adventure with each sketch.
I also do palette knife acrylic paintings that I started a couple of years ago. Paints are messier but fun to fiddle around with. I have also attempted nail and thread work as well and made a couple of pieces.
I usually try and find art in anything I can and use anything possible around me.
