Why did you pick this picture?
I chose this drawing because it is the technique and the series I am currently working on in my instagram profile @notwelcome, which are the Disney villains.
At the moment, I am experimenting with Japanese pens, markers and copic markers.I have been working on this technique for 2 months already.
Where did the idea for this art come from?
My dream since childhood has been to work in animation, especially in Disney, where my drawing could be alive. I was interviewed last year in Disney and I intend to try again in the future. My favorite character of the Disney family was HADES, thats why I’ve chosen this drawing.
What does this art mean to you?
When I was little, I could spend hours and hours re-drawing characters I saw in the movies, especially the villain and now after 20 years I decided to do the same thing again. And (obviously) with a new and improved technique. For me, my art means, CONTRAST.
What can you tell us about yourself?
About me … I can only say that I am an spanish architect and creativity has been a part of my daily life since my childhood. I have worked as a graphic designer, interior designer, architect, publicist and I am currently working on audiovisual support, a bridge between architecture and communication. If I end up practicing a job where creativity does not play an important role, that work would not make sense to me. Every day when I get home from work, I take my notebook and stay up very late at night drawing while listening to music.
What more can you tell us about your art?
About my art, I began to draw hyperrealism with graphite, charcoal and pastel, still lifes and naked people. From there I began to deform those drawings, to make something beautiful from something grotesque. Tim Burton has exerted a strong influence on me when he first released “THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS” , a film which declared a before and after of my vision and technique in life.
