King of the North – kakoillustrado

Why did you pick this picture?

I choose this illustration because despite the gravity it seems to have, it reminds me of purer moments of my childhood, when I had my first contact with legends like “King Arthur”. I love to remember those moments.

Where did the idea come from?

Well, I had re-read Bernard Cornwell’s version of the Arthurian Legend, a trilogy. And I was excited to make an art inspired by Arthur and this story that fascinates me from childhood. Also, I am testing a new stroke style in this drawing.

What does this art mean to you?

It means, feelinga and ideals that I feel my generation leaves very easily today. Justice, honor, hope…Arthur believed that above all else. Nowadays we see heroes being called “boring”for their kindness and villains being boastful and humanized and many people like them. They invert the values. I like to rescue the innocence of the golden era, of comics or cinema.

What can you tell us about yourself?

I’m Brazilian, 19 years old, graduanting in Graphic Design, and freelance illustrator. Drawing is the passion of my life since…aways! Haha I think art, illustration, meet with the loving family and friends around a campfire to tell a good story, of fantasy or terror, in short….to scape the reality that surrounds us sometimes…is The madness that keep us sane in life.

What more can you tell us about your art?

Well, I want my art to inspire other people and awaken in them that immersive feeling of flight from reality that surrounds us to another, where magic exists. Because to be an Illustrator is this… is to be a ” Dream Seller” basically haha Nothing can be more fascinating!
