Clogged Arteries – josephkirkham

Why did you pick this picture?

I picked this picture because this drawing, I felt, was a breakthrough as I’ve been developing my style over the past few years and I feel this is a perfect representation of the style I continue to develop.

Where did the idea for this art come from?

This piece came entirely from my head, and I drew this while more thoughts came to my head. I didn’t have a vision of where I wanted to take this, nor did I know where it would end up. I use this approach on purpose to push the more creative side of my mind and trust myself, rather than worrying whether or not I will make a mistake. It’s more fun and organic this way.

What does this art mean to you?

It’s that no matter how frustrated I get with a piece of art I’m working on, I always finish it, no matter what. That’s my goal with my art, to always finish something I’m working on.

What can you tell us about yourself?

I graduated from college with a Bachelor’s in English where I continue to pursue my passion for fiction writing. I recently began drawing again due to my battle with insomnia. Late nights/early mornings are when I get most of my work done, away from the daily distraction.

What more can you tell us about your art?

My artwork is a way for me to get out of my own head, to not worry about mistakes, to enjoy messing up. There’s a chaotic element to my work. It’s fun to mess up in life, to laugh at myself, to not worry so much about things I can’t control. This is how I view my artwork.
