Creatures –

Why did you pick this picture?

This drawing shows in which direction I am planning to go to in the future. I want to create something that has an influence on everyone who looks at it. Something that speaks to people without even really knowing where the influence is actually coming from and I think that this artwork of mine is up to now the best one that is conveying this idea.

Where did the idea for this art come from?

Initially this artwork belonged to an idea for a game concept I made to apply to a university. As the game itself takes place in a post-apocalyptic world I thought about in which way I could turn things we’re familiar with into something both weird and beautiful. That’s when I came up with the idea of creating this creature, based on a simple jellyfish and added some dangerous features combined with beautiful vibrant colors.

What does this art mean to you?

Generally I like to think about my art as a tool to express my emotions and to sometimes manipulate the viewer of my art. To me it means to be able to melt down the barrier between my inner self and my surroundings and give an authentic look into inside of me.

What can you tell us about yourself?

Up to now I haven’t had any professional lessons but have learned everything by myself. I have been drawing now for almost five years, constantly trying to improve myself as I decided to become a Game Artist at a pretty early stage. Now that I have finished high-school I am going to start studying Game Art at a university in a couple of months and finally be able to turn my hobby into my career.

What more can you tell us about your art?

Well, it’s hard to break down my art style to a couple of words since I am not sticking to a certain field of art. In order to improve myself I am always exploring various types of art, not only speaking about media and techniques but also ways of expression concerning color schemes, proportions and composition styles.
