Why did you pick this picture?
This has been my most popular print and was my Mother’s Day special edition
Where did the idea for this art come from?
I wanted to start a wildlife range to compliment my pet portraits and this was my first one. I wanted to try drawing a Hare but to make my drawing a different angle to the usual ones. I also liked the baby and mother idea for Mother’s Day gifts.
What does this art mean to you?
It’s special as it was one of the first prints I have sold and it reminds me of the bond between me and my boys .
What can you tell us about yourself?
I am a self taught artist living in west Somerset, we spend a lot of time walking our dog in the quantock hills and exmoor, this is where I found my inspiration for my wildlife series. I live with my husband and my three boys and draw and paint in the evenings. We have a springer spaniel and he was the first dog I drew a portrait of. This is the first year selling my prints and I now have them in six local businesses in Somerset.
What more can you tell us about your art?
I have a creative background studying fine art, graphics and I have a National Diploma in Media makeup.
My work is highly detailed and has been described as very life like, it would be classed as realism. I try to capture the subjects personality and a deep variety of colours in their fur or feathers. I enjoy drawing the eyes the best, as these add the character of the subject.
