Mulan – Rim Alsehnawi

Why did you pick this picture?

I chose this one because it’s kind of my favorite pieces so far and it took me a lot of time and effort.

Where did the idea for this art come from?

When I saw the young korean model yoon young bae aka @mulan_bae on Instagram, I got inspired by her beauty and I thought to myself that her looks would make an aesthetic painting.

What does this art mean to you?

Specifically this painting means a lot to me because it shows me that hard work pays off. When I look at it and compare it to my really old work I really see the big improvement I made so far. It is a piece that I’m proud of and not just because of its aesthetic look , but because I am very interested in the Asian look and I find their features really beautiful.

What can you tell us about yourself?

I’m an 18 year old medical student who started drawing at a really young age. Art was always my passion and my hobby , but I never really thought about pursuing it as a career. However, after I get my medical degree and help those in need , I’m thinking about starting my own art gallery and showing more of my art to the world.

What more can you tell us about your art?

I simply try everything out ! I tried watercolors, pastels, pens, charcoal , acrylics , oil paintings and more. I really enjoy using different materials and I like to create different art. However, I don’t like the part where I don’t have a unique style , like a solo style that I stick to or one medium.

On the other hand, I draw what I like and what I’m good at. My art revolves around the idea of “aesthetic” and the ability to see beauty in the world for example , landscapes , seas , people from around the world and that’s what keeps inspiring me.
