breath – Lea Maurer

Why did you pick this picture?

Making this drawing was very challenging and although it was one of the most time-consuming pieces I have ever made, I do not want to miss the experience. It taught me a lot about being patient and I am very proud of it.

Where did the idea for this art come from?

Recently, I was inspired a lot by the movements of water and especially photographs of people being underwater. I wanted to draw a picture like this for a long time and then I found a photography taken by the amazing @laliou and I was very happy that she supported my idea of drawing it. I just love the lightning and the reflexion the water causes. What does this art mean to you? To me, it really means nothing specific, I just find it aesthetic. But I find it quite interesting how different people interpreted this drawing. I have made the experience that people either love it or do not like it at all

What can you tell us about yourself?

I am 16 years old and currently going to school in Germany. In my free time, of course I love to draw and I enjoy reading a lot. I also do artistic cycling.

What more can you tell us about your art?

I mostly draw humans, particularly portraits. I would like to experience more and try different mediums. I hope to find my own art style 🙂
