Crybaby Trump (POTUS in Pampers) – Mike Essa

Why did you pick this picture?

It seems every week its something with #45 , and his first go to source of complaining is Twitter regardless of being right or wrong. Another reason is I felt this illustration read clearly to me and it basically tells a story, as if to say “just give the baby his bottle…..or smart phone”

Where did the idea for this art come from?

It started off as a project with someone and basically wanted a depiction of POTUS with my take on how he responds to current events.

What does this art mean to you?

I’m a cartoonist. My job is to represent a person or thing in a completely exaggerated style all the while still portraying them whether it’s how I feel personally about the subject matter or how some people feel or how everyone feels. In this case; I’m not alone.

What can you tell us about yourself?

The names Mike Essa, I’m a digital artist for tv animation (storyboard, character design, pre-viz) and a children book illustrator living in Los Angeles. I’m always being inspired by the environment surrounding me, my girlfriend in Chile, my brother and goofy friends who always help me think out of the box.

What more can you tell us about your art?

Along side my inspirations, I’m pretty inspired off artists such as Spumcos John K. & Stephen Silver (stylistically speaking). But I try not to completely imitate their work so I do my best to put a little of my own likeliness to it. I try to go with the trend of most things. Like they say: if you can’t beat em’, join em.
