Affection – Cameron Smith

Why did you pick this picture?

This drawing is the beginning of a new phase for my art because I’m not used to color but with this piece I decided to dive in and test out different hues of the skin with copic markers. Not the most cheapest way to really get into color but the results turned out great!

Where did the idea for this art come from?

This idea was originally from a photo I found on instagram. And usually most of my work is focusing on the female figure and their essence. So the photo just automatically caught my eye.

What does this art mean to you?

This piece means a lot considering that I’m not much of a “realistic” artist. I love to bend the rules a little bit. So with this piece I gave her realistic features along with my abstract “cartoonish” style of drawing.

What can you tell us about yourself?

I’m 19 years old and I’m a full time college student studying graphic design for a bachelor’s degree.

What more can you tell us about your art?

I’m a traditional artist and a digital artist which means one day I’m working on paper or there will be a different day when I’m working on my iPad. So there’s definitely different variations of my work throughout each piece and post I make.
