Milton – Sophie Holden

Why did you pick this picture?

This picture was a little commission I was asked to do for a friend. He’s got such a lovely little character it was impossible to say no!

Where did the idea for this art come from?

I’m a complete animal lover and absolutely adore making animals the subjects for my artwork. Animals are such a huge part of our lives and I love bringing them to life in my drawings.

What does this art mean to you?

My art is my therapy. It’s my way of relaxing, being creative and I enjoy the freedom of expression it allows. I also love making other people happy through my work, and there is no better feeling than knowing your creation holds a very special place in someone’s home

What can you tell us about yourself?

Currently I am a full time student nurse, which unfortunately means I don’t get as much time as I’d like to draw. I like to spend my free time walking in the great outdoors, although I recently lost my beautiful German Shepherd Billy so I haven’t been walking so much of late. I love anything nature or animal related and hope I can one day combine my love of animals and my artwork into a full time career!

What more can you tell us about your art?

At the moment I predominantly use coloured pencils for my work, but like to experiment and would like to start trying more mediums. It’s all very exciting finding your niche and what works best for you, and im enjoying trying new things. I only wish there were more hours in the day so I could get all of my ideas onto paper!
