The Destructive Properties Of A Name – K

Why did you pick this picture?

If you mean why I picked the picture for that specific poem, then I picked it because it seemed to work with the poem perfectly. The reader would see the words that I had written, and then turn their attention to the note in the background that says “P.S. I Still Love You.” If that note doesn’t sum up the reason for my words perfectly, then I don’t know what does. If you mean why I picked that poem, then I picked it because it seemed to be a great example of the content you’ll find on my account. My writing isn’t happy, and it often revolves around love and destruction.

Where did the idea for this art come from?

I’ve always loved to write, and after a particularly painful breakup I decided I’d share my writing with the world in an attempt to ground myself and give my life new meaning. It’s nice to be able to do so anonymously, making the whole account a diary of sorts. My inspirations change on a daily basis, depending on my mood and my interactions on any given day. The first year or so my only real inspiration was that breakup, and actually this poem is a reference to the person from that breakup. Regardless, my thoughts have mostly moved past it, seeing as it was a few years ago now.

What does this art mean to you?

This art means the world to me. I couldn’t imagine my life without writing, and putting my words out to the world is almost therapeutic. It calms me and my racing thoughts to type them up and send them out to a place where others can see them and relate to them. It makes me feel less alone and more okay.

What can you tell us about yourself?

Let’s see….I’m young and pessimistic. I live in a small town in New England that I’m hoping I’ll have the courage and means to leave someday. I’m close with my immediate family and my friends, which makes considering leaving all the harder. I love running, possibly more than I love writing, but I honestly couldn’t imagine life without either.

What more can you tell us about your art?

When I write, I normally write in second person in an attempt to bring the reader into my words and thoughts and feelings. I try to make it less about me and my personal struggles and more about the struggles that we all go through on a daily basis. We’ve all been heartbroken. We’ve all been stressed and scared. I just try to put those feelings into words. I often try to bring the reader into specific events as well. So there’s the interview and such, but you mentioned me posting about your blog on my account. Would you like me to say anything specific or…?
