Unnamed – Iman Wedraw

Why did you pick this picture?

I chose this drawing because it best shows my current drawing level, my ability to work with color and lighting, and it has well-designed details. In addition, I like the idea that I put into this drawing.

Where did the idea for this art come from?

The idea appeared in the process of drawing. I sketched the old man and gradually added details until the idea was fully formed. The work is called «Dead memories” I added birds as a metaphor for memories and wanted to say with my work that human memory is not as flawless as it is commonly believed. People collect memories, take photos for memory, without thinking that one day these memories can not stay.

What does this art mean to you?

Despite the fact that my artwork has a melancholic character, I really love it. I think I passed the idea well at the expense of symbols, and lighting. Also, I noticed that this work was liked by more people than usual, for me it is very important.

What can you tell us about yourself?

I am a 24 year old artist from the far east of Russia.

Since the age of 13, I fell in love with art after I got carried away by graffiti. At the same time, I went to art school and learned the basics of drawing. Then I studied for a graphic designer. After studying, I realized one of my dreams, I opened my studio on art painting. All this together formed me as an artist.

What more can you tell us about your art?

Now I am engaged in commercial painting of interiors and exteriors. Despite the fact that part of my work is illustrations, I also develop as a monumental artist. I paint my best illustrations on large walls in the city. I hope that someday I will become more in demand as an artist and I will be able to draw my illustrations on large facades of houses in different cities of the world. And I hope that in this way I can inspire people to engage in art.
