Why did you pick this picture?
I chose this picture as this was my first ever body paint. Back in August 2017 I created this just for fun after being introduced into the Makeup / Body Painting industry. It was never an area I thought to bring my creative skills but this picture changed my life forever. I got such an amazing response from people I had never even met that pushed me to continue along this path. It has changed me as a person, grown confidence personally and for my it and it started a new journey for my life. Since then, I have had such amazing opportunities, and met so many talented artists along the way.
Where did the idea for this art come from?
I’m not really sure where my inspiration came from really. I had seen so many artists on instagram painting themselves as cartoon characters, and thought thats what I’m going to do. Art for me is also a way to escape from what is going on in the world around me so turning myself into a cartoon character meant I was no longer me but a character in a movie.
What does this art mean to you?
My whole life revolves art. From a very young age I began drawing, painting, crafting, sculpting and just experimenting with every material I could find. For a large portion of my childhood I was sick and spent a lot of time in and out of hospitals so art was my way of escape from everything that was going on. Whenever I was creating my world changed into a better place, and no matter where I was I created art all the time. Whenever I want to escape all I have to do is pick up a brush and just paint!
What can you tell us about yourself?
I was born and raised in the very small town of Ballyhaunis in County Mayo, Ireland. When I turned 18 I packed my bags, moved to the other side of Ireland to the city of Dublin to live my dream as an artist. Long story short, after a year living in Dublin my dream wasn’t really turning out the way I expected and I ended up studying Graphic Design to give myself a better chance of a creative career. Along the way I met some amazing creative people and 4 years later I was introduced to the makeup and body painting industry, and thats where i am right now!
Some little small bits about me:
I actually quite a shy person, although it may not seem like that from my instagram.
I love to travel, I’ve been to 11 countries so far (that was my last count it could be more now)
Foooood… is my life. It may seem like I don’t eat but I eat one hell of a lot of food, a lot more then the average person. Plus I’m always hungry.
My favourite drink is a Gin and Tonic ( so if you see me out you know what to get me )
What more can you tell us about your art?
Right now I’m focusing all my work on body painting, but I’m still going to work on other areas of art as thats where this amazing journey all began. I hope to soon start creating videos for youtube basing it on all the things I create so you will get to see everything from my body painting, drawings and other creations. As this journey is still only beginning for me I’m not sure where it’s going to take me but I just want to create & share it with everyone. I’m hoping to soon also start a schedule where I uploaded and share my work more often as that is something I have always struggled with.
