Why did you pick this picture?
It’s my personal favourites of all my recent works, especially because it’s the portrayal of an original character of mine. I am really proud of how this turned out, and that’s why I chose it.
Where did the idea for this art come from?
At least twice a month I play “dungeons & dragons” and this was my character from our last campaign. I always have the urge to draw my characters and needed a picture for my character sheet anyway, so I ended up painting this portrait.
What does this art mean to you?
I love painting faces, and this piece is especially dear to me because I used a character that is my own, but also because I tried out new things when I made this. I feel like practicing drawing part of that robe, as well as the halo and the light coming off it, really helped me learn and improve as an artist.
What can you tell us about yourself?
Currently I am an animation student at the RITCS. I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember and I am hoping to become a full time illustrator or animator, once I’ve graduated. My current interests are fantasy (modern day fantasy too) and magical realism, and I hope I can reflect those theme’s in my works.
What more can you tell us about your art?
I am still learning, making a lot of studies and practicing realism to get a better understanding and grasp on shapes, colour and lighting. I hope that this will help me towards developing a simpler, softer art style in the future.
