Bye, Marvin! – Mariela García

Why did you pick this picture?

It is a character from one of my favorite series “The End Of The F *** ing World”, that inspired me to paint a fan art.

Where did the idea for this art come from?

While watching the series this character was very peculiar to me, mainly because of her freckles, her features were perfect to me. Watching the work of other illustrators inspires me a lot, that motivated me to express it in an illustration.

What does this art mean to you?

It means that practice makes perfect. It motivates me a lot to see my previous works, compare them with the most recent and see how I have improved. As I’m looking for a drawing style, I can see what things I’m still using and what things I stop using and why I stop using them.

What can you tell us about yourself?

My name is Mariela García, I’m 19 years old girl and I’m from Mexico. I am studying the career of Graphic and Digital Design.

Since I can remember, I’ve always loved drawing, but it was in 2013 that I saw in a drawing class I attended an old man painting with oils, he made beautiful things and made them look so easy to use, that inspired me a lot and made me curious about this technique, since then I haven’t left the brush Then I discovered the watercolor paintings and I fell in love

What more can you tell us about your art?

I use watercolors, acrylics and sometimes oils. I love painting animals, preferably with bright and colorful colors (in fact I like to paint anything that has that kind of colors ). I have painted lately a lot of characters from series, actors, famous people, etc. to practice face proportions.

As I said I’m looking for a drawing style, that’s why most of my illustrations have different styles, but there’s one thing all of them have is that they are very colorful.
