The Beatles — So Young – Michael Lilley

Why did you pick this picture?

I chose this particular artwork as I found it the most fun to put together. Along with being something that is fairly recent and still fresh to my own eyes.

Where did the idea for this art come from?

Completely inspired by Where’s Wally/ where’s Waldo and little drawings you used to get in kids magazines. Where you would try and find all the items. A little like a wordsearch, only pictures. I thought it would be fun for die hard Beatles fans to flex the ability to find all the references.

What does this art mean to you?

This was something brand new to me. A little experiment really. Combining photoshop, illustration and graphic design. Using each song title allowed me to come up with a different illustrative perspect. Some are obvious, some take a little thinking. It was ridiculously fun.

What can you tell us about yourself?

I am a creator at heart. I love to write poetry and hide it in my art. I’m all metaphors amd emotion on the page, rational by day. If a job title was called “Idea Machine” I’d be applying left right and center.

What more can you tell us about your art?

I’m still finding my style, I guess. I really enjoy placing meaning into what I create. I love using art as story telling device and I am currently working on many more short comic/zines to push a sort of kindness propaganda. I have always enjoyed creating art. I’m excited for what my little brain comes up with next.
